What Is A Vape Device And How Does It Work?
"By this point (2021) most of you will know what a vape device is, must have seen a vaping device or might know someone using one. But you may not be fully aware of what a vaping device is, what they are used for or how it might be able to help you. A vape is a device used to inhale vapor. The vapor usually contains nicotine. Most commonly, vapes are used by people attempting to quit smoking cigarettes.

How does a vape work?

A vape device consists of the following component parts:
  • The mod or battery,
  • The tank (where the e-liquid is held),
  • The coil (which is the part heated).
Simply, the battery supplies power to the coil which has cotton carefully placed upon it (you can see this below). The coil is heated which in turn heats the e-liquid-soaked cotton and vaporizes the e-liquid. It’s at this point you are vaping.
This is a home-made coil, in which the cotton is more prominent. The pre-built coils that you will most likely purchase look more like the image below. As you can see the lines coming from the casing show the coil and the cotton.
This cotton is saturated with e-liquid which vaporizes when heated. This vapor is then inhaled by the user, delivering nicotine. Without delving too deep into the worlds of electronics and resistance, coils are built to certain resistances. You’ll see this rated on the side of coils. For example, if you see 1.2 on the side of your coil this means that it is providing 1.2 ohms of resistance. This will affect the speed at which the coil heats up as well as the amount of power the coil can handle, without degrading significantly. You or the manufacturer will set this power via the wattage settings on the vape. Some vaping devices will have a fixed wattage such as the Innokin Endura T18 II. Other vape devices will have a screen and you will be able to adjust the amount of power the battery provides to the coil, on the screen.

How a Vape could help you?

Now you know how a vape works, it’s time to figure out if vaping could help you. If you are addicted to smoking and nicotine, then a vape could help you. If you smoke only socially and can’t help yourself after you’ve had a few drinks, then a vape could help you. Essentially if you are dependent on nicotine in any way, a vape is a safer alternative than getting nicotine from smoking. The only people that shouldn’t entertain the idea of owning a vape are those that have never smoked or isn’t dependent on nicotine."
