When it comes to vaping, it is important to observe some general rules and manners around vaping etiquette.
This is definitely the one that catches most people out, as it can be unclear what the rules are from place to place. However, most public places will have a vaping policy even if it’s not signposted – so if you’re in doubt, it’s always best to ask.
There is also etiquette when it comes to outside areas and we think it’s best to try and select a spot where you think people will be les bothered about you vaping. That means avoiding families (especially if they’ve got little ones onboard).
Vaping is a big part of being social for many of us, but that doesn’t that it is for everyone else. Even if you’re around your close friend’s house for a party or a get together, it’s always good to ask if you can vape inside. If they would rather you didn’t, then accept it – arguing why you should be able to vape in someone else’s house is not a good look.
If your host is perfectly ok with you vaping inside, we would still recommend that you give it a break when people are eating and refrain from the room where the nibbles are. Even though vaping usually carries a very pleasant scent, this can still conflict with the taste of food for lots of people.
Finally, you’re amongst vapers, it’s time to relax and blow clouds to your hearts content, right? Well, yes and no. Generally, vapers will be far more accepting with your habits than those that don’t vape. However, it’s still important to show some respect. The most important thing to remember is to not blow vapour into anyone’s face, because that can be easy to forget when everyone is puffing away.
When you’re with other vapers, there is also a tendency to want to try other people’s flavours. Sharing your favourite new flavour or mod, is one of the best parts about being part of the vaping community. However, people can get a bit funny when it comes to sharing their mouthpiece, so don’t grab their device and start inhaling! If they’re more relaxed then go for it, but if not then it doesn’t hurt to carry around a plastic tip to attach to other people’s mouthpiece.
Vaping is becoming increasingly popular, and people are becoming more accepting of it. However, it’s always best to remember your Ps and Qs when you’re around other people. We’re not saying that you have to tiptoe around on eggshells, and there’ll always be those unpleasable people that spend their lives in a state of petty annoyance, but we think that the more people that have a good image of vapers, the better.
