T-Juice Explains: Why does my vape taste burnt?

Let’s set the scene - you’ve just opened your brand new Red Astaire e-liquid and you’re desperate to experience that sweet complex taste. Then, after inhaling, all you’re met with is the taste of... burning? If this is you - don’t worry. There’s a few reasons why your vape might be tasting burnt and all of them are fixable. Here’s a few reasons why you’re getting that burning taste and how to solve them.

Prime your coils

If you’ve got a new coil installed and your e-liquids are tasting burnt, you may have forgotten to prime your coil beforehand. This is a vital step when you’ve got a new coil in place. Fortunately, the answer’s simple - expose your coil head and drop a small amount of e-liquid into the visible wick to ensure it’s soaked. All that’s left to do is inhale that brand spanking new vape juice you’ve been waiting for.

Fill your tank up

Running low on vape juice is never a good idea. If you’re running on the scraps in the bottom of your vape tank, it’s very possible that that’s why your vape is tasting burnt. As a general rule, never let the wicking ports of your coil be exposed. Keep things nice and full and you shouldn’t have any problems. If you're running low on e-liquid regularly, check out our special bundles and stop that burning taste for good.

Chain vaping

Trust us - there’s nobody more enthusiastic about vaping than T-Juice. We totally get the temptation of chain-vaping. Ultimately, though, your e-liquid will get way too hot and vaporise too quickly, which then leaves you with that unsatisfying burning sensation. The best way to keep tabs on this is to feel your vaporiser during long sessions - if it’s getting too hot, it’s definitely time to cool it.

Consistent cleaning

We know how easy it is to get complacent with your cleaning routine when you’re a vaper. If you’re getting that burning taste a lot, it might be because your wick is clogged up with vaping gunk. Those vapes high in nicotine are much more likely to block things up, so a consistent cleaning routine is absolutely essential. If you’re struggling to find a place to start with cleaning, check out our blog on how to get your vape tank looking spick and span.

If you’re new to the world of vaping, it might be a bit of a surprise when you sample that burning taste for the first time! Always make sure you’re priming, cleaning and filling to get the most out of your e-liquids and avoid that horrible charcoal taste.
